Mark Zuckerberg laid out his vision for the future of Facebook on Tuesday by highlighting three priorities: stories, messaging and video.

Stories: Similar to SnapChat and Instagram, Zuckerberg said, “I just think that this is the future. People want to share in ways that don’t stick around permanently, and I want to make sure that we fully embrace this.”

Although stories hasn’t taken off as quickly as it has on other platforms, Zuckerberg believes that stories will be bigger than the News Feed.

Messaging: 100 billion messages are sent every day across messenger and WhatsApp, Zuckerberg said. Facebook plans to improve its messaging apps by making them easier to use, faster and improving security. “We found that every time we make our services faster and simpler, people communicate more”, he said.

Video: This is no surprise, Facebook has been focusing attention on video for years now, creating Facebook Watch and IGTV. He explained that these products are “growing very quickly,” and that “video is a critical part of the future.” He emphasized that is want the community wants, so “as long as we can make it social, I think will end up being a large part of our business as well.”
